In the past couple weeks, there has been a lot of discussion in the NBA world about player loyalty. For me, the concept of player loyalty to a team or organization is not as opaque as many make it out to be. Not every situation is the same and each player has a different rationale, yet the media, the fans or both will vilify the player or craft narratives that don’t address the actual reasons...

There is a one in 9.2 quintillion chance of correctly guessing every game in the NCAA championship tournament. To win, that means predicting every upset and every No. 1 seed dethroned in the first round. While my bracket is, as they say, “busted” (thanks, Virginia. And Arizona. And Xavier), I can at least take pride in my bracket being better than Obama’s. And I can celebrate that the Final Four is in San Antonio this year,...

The men’s basketball season concluded last weekend after being knocked out of the SCAC Championship in a semifinals match against Schreiner University at Colorado College. The fourth-seeded Tigers kicked off the tournament with an easy 63-47 victory against Colorado College on Friday afternoon. The men’s and women’s basketball teams were both victorious against conference foe Schreiner University on Saturday, Feb. 17 in their final home games of the season.  The women, who came into the weekend ranked 22nd in the country, cruised to an easy 70–49 victory despite a rough start, where Schreiner took the lead 11–4 within three minutes before the Tigers went on a 20–5 run that the Mountaineers never recovered from. Senior Micah Weaver led...

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and TigerThon executives have partnered this year to host a series of fundraisers for the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. The SAAC is a NCAA-mandated committee comprised of student athletes in order to provide insight into the student athlete experience. Trinity’s SAAC is also involved in the greater San Antonio community through service and outreach programs. On the weekend of Feb. 2–3, members of SAAC and the TigerThon board...

12 p.m., Fridays, in Webster Gym. When these students aren’t working, trying to catch up on sleep or missing meals, you can find them on the basketball court, facing off against professors in the weekly Noon Ball game. Tigers play casual pick-up games throughout the week, usually featuring teams of four or five, with the teams playing full court to 12. This informal setup usually happens throughout the week until Friday, when the Noon Ball...
