The following covers the meeting held on Oct. 9.

SGA has filled all open senator positions, as well as the vice president position. Sophomore Oliver Chapin-Eiserloh and senior Theresa Ho join as senators, and former treasurer Georgia Roberts is the new vice president. Now, the only open position is that of treasurer. CLIMATE CHECK

Sophomore senator Esther Omegba brought forward complaints about parking on campus on football game days, especially this past weekend, which was Alumni Weekend. Omegba asked if anything could be done about the lack of parking.

Secretary Ari Afshari, sophomore, asked about the game room in Prassel Residence Hall that is now blocked off and no longer functional. David Tuttle, dean of students, suggested he reach out to a residential life coordinator or to the director of ResLife, Deb Tyson.

President Ty Tinker, senior, explained that he received an email from junior Isabella Rizzo about the dress code in the Bell Center, which disallows crop tops. Rizzo has expressed concern about the policy before. Tinker suggested a potential resolution from SGA, but Tuttle recommended SGA reach out directly to Seth Asbury, associate athletic director for Facilities & Event Management, who manages the Bell Center.

ELECTION TIMELINE

The election timeline is changing for all student organizations, so Tinker reminded the Senate what that looks like and to keep it in mind if they decide to take office again.

CENSUS

Sophomore senator Noor Rahman spoke about how she and Jamie Thompson, director of Student Involvement, are working to increase students’ awareness of the census and to encourage off-campus students to fill it out.

ZIPCAR

Zipcar is allowing SGA members to get a free annual subscription and $35 in driving credits to use Zipcar. Tinker suggested anyone interested reach out to the person who initially contacted him about it.

TIME CAPSULE

Tinker explained again how Katie Storey, young alumni and student programs coordinator for Alumni Relations, reached out to him about creating a time capsule, and he expressed how he felt the tradition would die if SGA didn’t manage it or if SGA didn’t find another group to manage it.
