    It was a joke (that I even backed away from in my article). But I really do appreciate the respectful tone.

      Anytime someone says “-blank- was a joke” in response to criticism, it immediately looks childish.

        His article really was poking fun at YCT members. He was just teasing some of them that they can’t do pushups. If you look at the comments on his original article, you see that YCT members understood that. The weapons are of course a joke referring to the gun control controversy.

          With the severity and frequency of campus-based gun violence in this country, it seems like a very poor joke to make. I don’t mean to nitpick, we all say insensitive things. However, if someone feels threatened or genuinely concerned by a public comment like the one in reference, “itwas a joke” is an inadequate response.
