Adam Pascal, who has visited Broadway and Hollywood to play Roger Davis in the award-winning musical "Rent," now plans to visit Laurie Auditorium March 4 to play a concert promoting his third solo rock album.
This visit marks Pascal's only foray into the state of Texas during his current nationwide tour with pianist Larry Edoff, and it was arranged entirely by Trinity students, including leaders in the music fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon and Senior Sarah Franco.

Pascal is best known for his role in "Rent," but he has spent time on Broadway and in Hollywood for other projects, including roles in the movie "School of Rock" and the Broadway musical "Aida." He has also produced two rock albums to date, and his third album, which will be titled "Blinding Light," is scheduled for release on April 30. In his new album, Pascal abandons the traditional rock sound of his previous albums and sings to the sounds of Edoff's piano.

Pascal will participate in a Q&A at 4:30 p.m. before his concert in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall, giving the Trinity community a chance to glean knowledge from his vast show business expertise.

"He's going to talk about his life on Broadway and on the movie set and about his solo albums," Franco said. "So he'll talk about the business. You'll be able to get some knowledge out of him."

These events were arranged almost entirely by students. Franco, who is a longtime fan of Pascal, initiated and spearheaded the efforts to bring him to campus.

"I looked on his Web page, and it said he was doing a tour, and I contacted his agents," Franco said, of her initial efforts early last semester.

Between then and now, Franco, the students of Mu Phi Epsilon and several others have been nailing down the details of bringing a star to campus.

"Sarah and Mu Phi Epsilon got together with some drama students and they all said yes, let's do that," said Music Department Chair Carl Leafstedt. "It's been a major enterprise for these students. Raising the money, the organization, working with Laurie [Auditorium]-it's really like a mini-course in arts management."
