Even though you've spent the first few nights of this new semester in your super-comfy twin bed in the residence halls and even been to a few days of classes, if you're like any normal twenty-something college student, your hearts and minds are not back in the swing of things quite yet. We at the Trinitonian feel your pain… intensely so.
In order to ease the transition from the lazy days of break to these coming rigorous weeks of academics, we have prepared the first issue of the spring semester early enough to be on the stands the very first week. Inside this issue, you will find a variety of suggestions from our staff, often relying on their personal opinions or individual experiences, as to the best ways to enjoy your spring semester when you are not in the library or helping your roommate through the crisis of the sophomore slump or the frequently incurable senioritis.
Whether you're a first year who still doesn't know all the secrets of San Antonio or a senior looking to make this last six months something to remember, please use this issue to plan a semester of unique and worthwhile fun in and around campus.
As the fall semester ended, our inboxes were inundated with attention-grabbing and important e-mails. The Coates University Center was closed when employees encountered some suspicious mail, while DCS officers encountered numerous suspicious males lurking in the dark. And of course the guns and ammunition found on campus, which the local media has sunk its respective teeth into in the last month. Besides these developments, there are an unusual number of timely and intriguing speakers on deck for the coming months and the last semester of the popular Difficult Dialogues series will address the topic of Culture and Civic Status with the usual mix of unique panels, films and presentations.
We promise objective, complete coverage of many of the events that happened over the break and the semester which has already begun with lines out the door of Laurie Auditorium for Tony Blair tickets as well as the bookstore's campaign to promote the drug Gardisil on its shopping bags. So look forward to another semester of the Trinitonian, covering the people and the places that most concern your Trinity community. And of course, we'll have the crossword back next week as well.
For now though, sit back with your snack-sized issue and plan something for tonight or months away. Whatever you do, don't miss out on this great city, this unique campus or the best ways to spend your time this semester. Sometimes we believe we have all the time in the world, but it will be May before you know it, so we propose another New Year's resolution: no regrets.
