The newly crowned National No.1 men's soccer team continued its strong season start with a 2-1 victory over the University of Texas-Dallas on Friday and a 7-1 drubbing of McMurry University on Saturday, both in Dallas.

The first match was hotly contested, with Trinity taking an early lead. Less than a minute into the game, midfielder Robert C'debaca, junior, scored the first goal, taking the Tigers up 1-0.

In the 27th minute, forward Patrick Floeck, sophomore, scored an unassisted goal.

Despite Trinity's two-goal lead, UT-Dallas struck back in the 34th minute, pegging the score at 2-1 for the rest of the match.
Although the Tigers recorded a win, several players expressed disappointment at Friday's game.

"UT-Dallas came out with a lot of energy, and we didn't play at our greatest," said co-captain midfielder Kyle Altman, junior.

Floeck, who was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Concerence's Player of the Week, also acknowledged there were difficulties.

"We struggled a little bit in the first game. However, on Saturday we played solid," Floeck said.

The match against McMurry displayed the Tigers' offense, which came out firing shots left and right. The first 40 minutes of play saw Trinity score three goals. Altman opened up scoring in the 25th minute. A few minutes later, midfielder Connor Hickey, first year, headed the ball into the goal. Floeck scored off an assist from teammate midfielder Tyrone Petrakis, sophomore, five minutes later. The exhibition was not over yet, as the Tigers added another goal when forward/midfielder Ben Stewart, junior, scored unassisted in the 46th minute.

The second half opened up with more goals by Trinity. Stewart scored a second time in the 57th minute with an assist from forward German Gomez, sophomore. The reverse occurred in the 63th minute as Gomez sent a ball past McMurry's goal line from 20 yards out, this time with an assist from Stewart.

McMurry would not accept a shutout. Just over a minute after Trinity's sixth goal, McMurry struck back and scored off a crossbar deflection. However, Floeck sealed the deal by scoring his third goal of the weekend in the 77th minute.

"We played much better [on Saturday]. We played as a team and covered each other's mistakes," Stewart said.

The Tigers play at home against Southwestern University today.
