For those seniors who have yet to complete the required number of hours to graduate, summer school is their only option.

Senior Sean Caporaletti is one such senior who needs only three more hours in order to graduate. However, Caporaletti is financially incapable of paying for summer tuition.

"We were in the Tigers' Den, discussing how many credits we had left to graduate," said Senior Bo Bromagen. "Sean had three hours left, and he wanted to take them at SAC [San Antonio College], but Trinity requires you to take the last three hours in your major at Trinity."

According to Caporaletti, he was required to pay $1,800 for summer tuition, which was money he did not have. So, his friends decided to offer him financial aid.

"There is a significant difference of several thousand dollars," Bromagen said. "That's bush. Sean doesn't have financial aid, so we decided that we should help him out because, between rent, food and gas, he doesn't have the means to pay for it."

According to Senior Zach Flechsig, there were many ideas offered up to the cause. For example, they thought of selling senior T-shirts, having a carwash and running a kissing booth. In the end a party entitled "Save the Sean" in honor of Caporaletti was what won out.

"We realized that this was something that we could provide as a student body - we could help Sean," Bromagen said.

The event was held last Thursday at a senior's house and had a $5 cover charge. According Senior Andrew Gruss, this function was not affiliated with the Chi Delta Tau fraternity, to which Caporaletti belongs. It was Sean-affiliated.

"It was not simply a party," Gruss said. "The party was a platform for our charitable service. It was a financial relief effort where we took a $5 donation at the door."

According to Caporaletti, he had to pay quite a bit of money to have the party, paying for refreshments and a police officer to keep everyone safe at the party. Many of his friends helped him to pay for the gathering, but he reimbursed everyone who chipped in.

According to Junior Jennifer Wieman, the party was for a good cause.

"Of course I'll support the cause, because I love Sean," Wieman said. "Everyone loves him. Sean is always so supportive of everyone else, so it's nice to support him."

According to Caporaletti, many individuals have approached him about his means of raising money. Many question his purposes and his drive to finish school.

"People ask me, 'Why is he having a party? Why doesn't he just get a job,'" Caporaletti said. "Well, I will get a job. I have to because I do not have the financial means to pay for school. But this money is really helpful."

Caporaletti and friends raised a significant amount of money for the "Save the Sean" fund.

According to Caporaletti, he was honored that people took this seriously. There were a lot of students who donated more than the $5 that was asked for.
